What is onpage SEO?

Onpage SEO covers all measures carried out directly on your website to improve its visibility in search engines. This includes optimising content, using keywords correctly, improving loading speed as well as adjusting meta tags and internal links.

The goal is to create a website that is user-friendly, relevant and high-performing for both search engines and visitors – easier to find and ranking higher in search results.

Why onpage SEO matters

Onpage SEO is crucial because it forms the foundation of your website's visibility in search engines. It improves the user experience, increases relevance for search queries and helps achieve a better position in the results.

Our onpage SEO process

Step 1

SEO audit

We start with a comprehensive analysis of your current website to identify technical weaknesses, untapped SEO potential and opportunities for optimisation.

Step 2

Keyword research

Based on the relevant search queries of your target audience we determine the right keywords and optimise your content so you rank for the right terms.

Step 3

Technical optimisation

We improve technical aspects of your website such as loading speed, mobile optimisation and URL structure to ensure search engines can index your site properly.

Step 4

Content optimisation

Your content is revised to be search engine friendly while remaining appealing to your visitors. This includes optimising copy, headings, meta tags and internal links.

Step 5

Monitoring & adjustment

After implementation we continuously monitor your website's performance and make adjustments where needed to secure and further improve results in the long term.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for onpage SEO to show results?
Onpage SEO is the area with the fastest results. Improvements to page titles, headings and internal links often show within four to eight weeks, because Google picks these changes up the next time it visits. Content revisions take longer: when a page is rewritten or substantially expanded, Google needs time to reassess its relevance – usually three to six months. How fast it goes also depends on how often your site gets crawled. A well-maintained site with regular changes is visited more frequently than one unchanged for two years.
What does professional onpage SEO cost?
A one-off onpage audit with a prioritised list starts at a few hundred francs and is often enough for smaller sites – you get a list of concrete measures and implement them yourself. If we handle implementation, the effort depends on the number of pages: for a company website with ten to fifteen pages the range is typically CHF 1,500 to 4,000. For an online store with hundreds of product pages it becomes an ongoing task rather than a one-off project. What moves the price most is the state of the technology: a cleanly built site can be optimised quickly, one that has grown over years needs clearing up first.
Do I have to rebuild my website from scratch?
No, in most cases not. We work with what's there and only replace what can't sensibly be repaired. A relaunch is the better choice only when the foundations are missing: when the site doesn't work on a phone, when loading times of several seconds stem from the build itself, or when the page structure is so tangled that important content is practically unreachable for Google. We clarify that in the audit before costs arise. A relaunch without necessity is expensive and risky, because existing rankings can be lost in the process.
Which tools do you use for SEO analysis?
For technical analysis we use Google Search Console as the primary source, because it shows what Google actually sees – indexing issues, search terms and click-through rates. Screaming Frog covers the full crawl of every page, surfacing broken links, missing titles and redirect chains. For keyword research and competitor comparison we use Ahrefs. Loading times we check with PageSpeed Insights, supplemented by real measurements in the browser. More important than the tools, though, is the interpretation: every tool spits out hundreds of findings, most of which are irrelevant.
Can I do onpage SEO myself?
The basics yes, and you should do them yourself. Understandable page titles, sensible headings, copy that answers your customers' questions, and meaningful image descriptions – that needs care rather than expertise. It gets harder with three things: technical analysis, because you have to know which warning is genuinely a problem; keyword research, because raw search volume without looking at competition is misleading; and prioritisation, because most measures achieve little while a few make the difference. That's exactly where SMEs burn the most time.
